somethimes, knowing that someone's in your corner is enough. especially when control slips through your fingers and none of the decisions you make are yours and there's a deriding voice in your head going blahblahblahshutupspoiledlittlebratyou'rejustbeingadramaqueenlet'sallsitbackandwatchthistraincrash, shallwe? and it's frustrating cos you want a life so badly and all of a sudden the battle over a dog and a career change becomes a battle for yourself, to establish your voice, to establish your identity, a battle duty and sacrifice will not allow you to even attempt to start to fight. and you think, gedemit, sometimes you miss your freedom, your self. but knowing that someone's got your back is enough. it doesnt matter if he doesn't know what it's like to stand in one of the squabillion pairs of shoes you bought not because you needed or even wanted any of them, but just because you needed something to do in the hour and a half you just had selfishly to yourself. he's there to keep you from going totally apeshit. he's there to listen (and maybe to offer advice you can't take but that's another story saved for another time).
and that's what matters.

hang tough, chuck.i want to hear my daddy's voice again.
i want to see him doing his morning exercises in the garden with gryphon watching over him with his tongue lolling out (gryph, not my dad).
i want to hear him grumbling about what an utter waste of money it would be for him to give me money to squander on makeup when, as far as he was concerned, i was already beautiful (sweet talker supreme).
i want to see his face light up when given cake and icecream (he's my dadddy, of course he gets both).
i want him to complain that the takeout fujien rice i brought him for payday pasalubong was no good (he asked for seconds, by the way).
i want him to ask me to bring him back some brownies and tartitas, the ones i always had to smuggle in because my mom was always complaining about his sugar level (guess who got the blame when caught?).
i want to have our breakfasts together again. i'd come home from nightshit and would be ready to plop into bed, and he was just about to start his day, but we always had those little moments to ourselves.
i want to hit the bookstores with him again, picking out the strangest books, meeting up at the counter only when our literary wants were sated and we were ready to go home with a gazillion books.
i want to have our sunday lunches out and hear him make kwento for the millionth time about how i used to "wuv cwabs" when i was a little bratling.
i want him to shuffle out of his room to interrupt my rpg to ask me what i was cooking for dinner, and could i please make it something fast because he was hungry na.
i want to travel with him again and have him make me pose beside all the dorky touristy attractions that showed we were really there.
i even want him to yell at me and tell me i wasn't allowed to go out at night (nevermind how old i am, right?) because what kind of girl goes gallivanting off till the wee hours of the morning, and because he could never sleep properly knowing i wasn't safe at home in my own bed.
i want my daddy well and strong.
i want to believe that everything will work out just peachy and our family will have our happy ending.
i want so much. i want it all.
but not on borrowed time.***

the grass is greener from the other side. but from this side, i have no freedom, no life whatsoever, and i feel like a kept woman without the awesomely sleazy sex to fall back on.
